As we all know, Peru is not Sweden. But then one day, comes this public TV channel creating quality content for children and teenagers, focused on developing soft skills and building citizens, educating through emotions, and you ask yourself: what is this? Gothenburg?
I started off as Promotions Director when the channel had just been created. My first impression was that EVERYTHING was yet to be done. That, added to the freedom I felt to propose creativity, made me fall in love with the job quickly.
Almost 2 years later, I became Managing Director, and went from making bumpers and promos, to creating content such as animated series and magazines. Sure, said like that, it sounds very glamorous, but the position came with a lot more than that.
There were important decisions to be made about: personnel, budgets, production, programming, technical resources, content purchases, festivals, and the organization of the entire channel, in addition to directing the editorial line. I managed to learn and master everything as I went along. Even with a global pandemic in the middle.
I always say that the mere existence of a channel like IPe, in this country, is a miracle. And I just hope this little mistake in the Peruvian matrix lasts for many many years.
