Laura is in school, she’s very much into reading, and has a soft spot for Harry Potter. Diana is her sister, who recently started college, and is going through a lot of new things. The distance (due to the pandemic) has made videocalls their main means of communication. And although they start talking about anything, they always end up talking about books, stories and poems, because… well, Laura.
The pandemic forced all of us to get creative. So when we decided that a virus was not going to stop us, we created a series that, in addition to being a lovely idea, met the COVID production requirements of that time. So yes: the issue of sisters separated by distance was not so much a creative decision, but a necessity.
I love “Mi hermana y sus libros” for various reasons, but mainly because of the sensitivity of the content director (Renzo Flores) to describe with so many nuances a relationship between two sisters, despite the technical and logistical difficulties. I also feel that we found an entertaining and memorable way of talking about Peruvian and universal literature.
